Why are we asking for donations?

The Flight Simulator Network has traditionally raised the money required to pay the costs of running it through advertising. I'd much prefer to not have advertising on the site, as I believe it creates a much better experience for the members and visitors. Hence, I've decided to start offering people the opportunity to donate towards the cost of running the site.

The more people that donate, the less advertising I can afford to have on the site and the more time I can allocate it to. Additionally, it will help towards the cost of advertising, which will ultimately (hopefully!) bring more people in, which'll make it more fun for everyone.

I have set up a "Friends of the Network" page, which will list all those who have contributed, as a way of saying thanks publicly to everyone that can help.
