Hey Lamont, fo which type of plane? I would suggest possibly visiting www.mycockpit.org as that is a great source of info from guys who are doping or have done this. You would really be surprised though how easy it is. The only issue really is that MSFS does not have FULL logic built into the overhead so you would need 3rd party software that could fill this gap. Some is VERY expensive i.e PM Systems. Just go to that site and have a read :)

Hey RichardI guess many cockpits are based on an individual - i.e. I can't afford to buy all the gadgets available because the exchange rate would ruin me, I am rtechnical enough and i have built my own electronics and for now i have 196 inputs, another 64 on the way, 128 outputs i.e. LED indicators like annunciators and 65 7seg displays for heading etc and another 6 ( perhaps 8) on the way.
I have the wood to build, lots of software, 3 PCs, a Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar (for control), 3 x 23" LCDs for front view, 1 x 19" for ND and PFD, 1 x 19" (4:3) for EICAS, standby gauges etc etc.. it adds up.

It really takes time BUT you can overcome that by buying what you need so it's is either LOTS of money and little time or LOTS of time and little money. However, be prepared, still costs a LOT!!

VERY cool!!! Looks good. I can believe 2 years because mine has taken me 1.5 years and i have just finished PLANNING and built some electronics. Probably another year to go!

Hi, hope everyone is ok, i was wondering what products people buy in order to create their own cockpit? do you use products such as saitek or goflight? or do you build your own electronics, if so, do you design the circuits yourselves? cheers hope this can lead to something amazing :)

Hi Jose:
Come join our Air Hauler Group. The AH program is a really addictive program and gives lots of meaning to every flight you conduct. Try it and you will be hooked just like the rest of us, plus we now have this great Forum to exchange ideas and visit. It would be great to have the "Flying Chef" on board! Just go to the top of this page and click Main and then scroll down to the Air Hauler Group and sign up. See you there!

Well I will be away from "reality" from Monday so no MSFS LOL

BUT, when i get back, i will need to go and get the wood for the structure of my cockpit. I shall then take pics as I progress. Hey It may not look 100% like the real deal but will be functional and won't cost me a mil!

Looks good Jose. The problem with yoursetup of anything close is that as soon as you have a simple panel with switches and knobs you want.... MOREEEEEE and that is when you know the bug has well and truly bitten your butt!

Yeah you're right,i'm the first Flying Chef...Flight Simming is addictive....everyday my life is not complete if i dont see my favourite planes in my virtual hangar and have to fly it, feel the yoke and hear the roaring sound of the engine, then go to bed..
